People from all age groups can receive orthodontic treatment. Especially in recent years, number of adults receiving orthodontic treatment has been on the rise. Complicated treatments involving jawbones may require surgical assistance.
We perform preventive orthodontic treatment especially in children 8 to 15. In this age group, it is possible to determine potential future bite occlusion issues and apply preventive treatment.
Jaw development is at its fastest around 8 to 10 years. This is the ideal period to intervene and prevent potential future problems.
Under ideal conditions, we wait until all permanent teeth of the child have come out. Permanent teeth start coming out around 6-7 years, and continues until 12-14 years. Hence, orthodontic treatment starts after 12 to 14 years of age.
Treatment period is approximately 8 to 24 months, depending on the case.
