YES. The most effective methods include brushing teeth twice a day after breakfast and before going to bed, and flossing regularly every day. As food mostly wedges in the indentations of chewing surface on teeth and between teeth, toothbrushes with smaller heads must be preferred. Brush chewing surfaces, inward and outward surfaces of teeth as well as the tongue and use floss to clean between the teeth.
Use medium or soft toothbrush, and replace regularly. Bristles should not be eroded. Keep toothbrush away from bacteria. Never use someone else’s toothbrush. Use a fluoride toothpaste when brushing your teeth to avoid tooth decay. You may also use a fluoride mouthwash to prevent bad breath and compliment fluoride toothpaste.
Another point to consider is consuming sweets only in main meals, not when snacking. The best way to prevent and/or detect tooth decay is to visit a dentist periodically. If your teeth suffer from hot or cold sensitivity, tooth ache, chalky coloured early cavies, brown spots or sockets, see a dentist without delay for an easier and more effective treatment.
