When correct implant and method are used, this probability is next to impossible. Such failure, if ever, should arise within the first 6 months after initial surgery. In such cases, implant must be removed, which is a simple operation like tooth extraction. A new implant can be secured at the same spot after the bone heals, or a traditional prosthetic can be preferred. However, in cases where two or more implants are in place, remaining implants are generally strong enough to serve with a new prosthetic design.
